Technitrail des Glaciers: A challenge for experienced trail runners through the Chapieux Valley
A trail considered by purists of the sport to be one of the most beautiful mountain trails in France: authentic, with a touch of technical difficulty and rustic charm, all in a simple setting.
The start and finish lines for all races are located at Les Chapieux-Bourg Saint Maurice (73700).
The Schedule
Saturday, September 26:
- 10 km through the Vallée des Glaciers, 360 m elevation gain
A quick round trip to the area known as “La Ville des Glaciers” to explore the valley and enjoy a magnificent view of the Aiguille des Glaciers. A 10 km course with approximately 360 m of elevation gain, running alongside the Glaciers Torrent—perfect for speed enthusiasts or those looking to explore the valley.
- Verticale du Bonhomme: 5 km, 900 m elevation gain
A steep climb of about 5 km and 900 m elevation gain to reach the Bonhomme mountain hut at 2,443 m. Free descent.
- + Technitrail des Glaciers (TDG) – 35 km, 2,700 m elevation gain
With this new route, TPS invites you to explore a significant portion of the high-altitude technical trail “Thomas Roques,” which stretches from the Tête Nord des Fours to the Col de la Seigne and overlooks the Glaciers Valley. Please note: This course is reserved for seasoned trail runners with prior mountain experience. The route includes some exposed and technical sections that may not be suitable for everyone.
Sunday, September 27:
- TPSB 68 km, 4,000 m elevation gain
THE GATES OF PARADISE! With this “expert” course set in the heart of the wild mountains “far from civilization,” TPS invites you to discover the famous “Colle di Bassa Serra,” rising to an altitude of 2,738 meters—a veritable wall in the heart of a glacial paradise that overlooks the Col des Chavannes in the distance and offers breathtaking views of the nearby Mont Blanc massif. Located in an extremely remote area, it’s a true gem. You’ll also explore the Mont Fortin ridge, which offers spectacular panoramic views, not to mention the Col de l’Ouillon and the Col de la Forclaz. Please note: this route is reserved for seasoned trail runners with prior mountain experience. The course includes some exposed and technical sections that may not be suitable for everyone.
- Trail du Mont Blanc (TMB) – 43 km, 2,800 m elevation gain
The Mont Blanc Trail is a high-altitude mountain trail featuring four passes over 2,500 meters in elevation and offering breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and the Aiguille des Glaciers.
- Grande Ecaille Trail (TGC)—21 km, 1,300 m elevation gain, Start at 8:30 a.m.
A short, fast 21 km loop with approximately 1,300 m of elevation gain, passing through the Grande Ecaille (2,751 m)—an iconic pass in the Vallée des Glaciers—with an impressive view of the Aiguille des Glaciers.
And finally, for the most daring:
- TPSB ULTRA 103 km (TPSB + TDG)
Participate in the 35 km Technitrail des Glaciers on Saturday and the 68 km TPSB on Sunday; a cumulative time ranking will be established.

Open to participants aged 20 and older; Cadet category.
Medical certificate: A certificate of fitness to participate in competitive running or an athletics or triathlon license is required for validation. It must be submitted by September 23 at the latest via the registration platform.
