From the Bourg Saint Maurice train station, hop on the funicular and reach Arc 1600 in just 7 minutes. Once you’re up in the mountains, the inter-resort shuttles take over, making it easy to reach Arc 1800, Arc 1950, or Arc 2000—as well as your lodging.
The result: no mountain roads to navigate, no snow chains to put on, and no traffic jams to deal with.
Good news: if you arrive by train, the round-trip funicular ride is free upon presentation of your ticket.
History
The history of the link between Bourg Saint Maurice and Les Arcs began in 1961 with the opening of the first chairlift. In 1974, a cable car was introduced to extend this connection as far as Arc 1600, before being replaced in 1989 by the Les Arcs funicular, driven by a clear vision: to connect the valley directly to the peaks.
Since then, it has continued to evolve: refurbishment, new panoramic carriages, a footbridge from the station, modernisation of the tracks… Still 100 per cent electric and running ever more smoothly, it has become much more than just a means of transport: a true gateway to Les Arcs.
