This winter, the mountain resort has plenty of new features to surprise both regulars and first-time visitors.
The new gondola in Villaroger
Higher, faster, and more beautiful than ever
Gone are the days of the old chairlifts where you had time to cool off after a great off-piste run or the legendary descent of the Aiguille Rouge (7 km and 2,000 m of vertical drop)!
Starting in December 2025, a brand-new gondola will take its place: modern, fast, and comfortable, with 10 seats! In just 6 minutes and 45 seconds, it connects the lower part of Villaroger to the base of the Droset chairlift.
And that’s not all: at the gondola’s departure point, a brand-new visitor center awaits you, featuring a ticket office, tourist information center, ski school, ski storage, sports shop, grocery store, snack bar, restrooms, and even a new parking lot. It’s the perfect spot to ask a question, grab a coffee, or take a quick breather… without missing a beat ;)
Transarc Completes Its Transformation
More than two years of construction are finally coming to an end!
This winter, discover Transarc with a capital T! Following the renovation of the visitor center and the new gondola, it’s time to explore the final version of the mineral gallery and the new accessible terrace at the summit of Transarc.
An XL Mineral Gallery
Already open last winter, this time the mineral gallery is in a league of its own!
An invitation to explore the connections between humans and minerals (and yes, they’re not just rocks, as your science teachers used to say). After a day of skiing, it’s time to explore… then unwind, with a new mineral-themed area featuring picnic tables, hot drinks, and ski lockers.
The Balcony Above the Clouds
Because “the weather is always nice above the clouds” (thanks, Zaho de Sagazan), climb to the summit of Transarc, Arcabulle, or Plagnettes to discover this new spot for contemplation.
The Balcony Above the Clouds is a natural amphitheater perfect for enjoying a picnic. While the kids play explorers with the giant binoculars, you can indulge in the classic question: “So, is that peak over there Bellecôte… or Aliet?!”
Chronoski - A New Approach to Understanding Speed
To avoid that famous scene from *Les Bronzés*—“I’m going, but I’m scared,” followed by “It’s going fast, soooo faaaast”… and then the fall—the mountain resort has created a space for learning and raising awareness about speed.
The 3 steps offered:
- Test Yourself
On a gentle, secure slope, learn the proper stance and set off with confidence (say goodbye to “I’m going, but I’m scared”). A stopwatch will show you your speed. - Stoooop!
Once you’re going, the challenge is to stay in control all the way to the end, with style and precision. Because going fast is great, but staying in control of your run is even better. (Don’t end up like Nathalie…) - The Code of Honor
After getting a taste of the thrill of speed, remember: “You must not forget what you’ve learned,” as Master Yoda would say. So take the time to read and memorize the posted rules of conduct.

To all beginners (and non-beginners), this winter the Arc 1600 trail (known as the "Animal Trail" to those in the know) is getting an upgrade with lots of information about mountain animals! Perfect for avoiding confusing ibex with chamois in front of experts…
