» Respect our nature

The Les Arcs ski area is actively engaged in establishing preservation of the natural environment as a vital feature of its projects, actions and development.

Your resort is committed to act to protect the environment.

Without a massive increase in awareness, our environment is threatened. Already more aware of the problems at the outset, the professionals who work in the mountains are taking the following concrete steps:

- Collection and re-cycling of ski cards,
- Re-forestation and seeding of new ski run development
- Reduction of the number of pylons where possible when building new lifts,
- Use of Organic oils for grooming machine maintenance,
- Protection of birds (black grouse) around cables, in conjunction with the Vanoise National Park and the FRAPNA.
- Distribution of pocket ash trays,
- Installation of many dustbins which are emptied daily,
- Collection of garbage under the chairlifts at the end of the season.

Many types of behavior can improve the quality of our environment, it is everyone’s business!
We just needs to realize that our behavior can have consequences for sustainable development and take a few daily steps that are often very simple.

- Use all the facilities that the resort has supplied to collect and sort rubbish.
- If you are going to picnic on the slopes, remember to take a plastic bag with you for rubbish,
- Leave nothing on the snow: remember that anything which you leave will not disappear on its own.

Some examples of how long it takes rubbish to rot:
- 1 to 2 years for a cigarette butt,
- 5 years for a piece of chewing-gum,
- 10 years for a metal can,
- 100 years for a plastic bottle,
- 4000 years for a glass bottle...

I ski freely with my ski card and It has a minimum impact on the environment if I hand it in at the end of my stay!

The Paradiski area is now completely equipped with electronic ticket checking allowing everyone to take advantage of «hands-free» skiing.

A real benefit for the environment...

Thanks to this new lift pass system, the lift companies of les Arcs, Peisey-Vallandry and la Plagne avoid the rubbish created by 2 million lift passes a year.

.. If everyone follows the rules :

Your ski card is made out of plastics which will pollute if thrown away outside:
PVC (poly vinyl chloride), PET (polyethylene terephthalate), Aluminium, Silica. They would certainly give the marmots ulcers!

Before you leave, drop your ski card into one of the collection bins, it will be reissued to a new skier.
